![]() Early Math Concepts Counting, Patterns, Sorting Time Concepts, More or Less While we don't expect the kids here to start doing addition and subtraction facts, we do want to introduce them to counting and basic math concepts. Mixing and matching, patterning, counting, sorting, are all basic math skills that will help them to develop a good math foundation. We often use math mats that the kids can first color and then we create scenarios asking them to add or subtract accessory pieces. These math mats are very cool, and the kids love them.. and best of all they help them with learning a valuable learning tool. We also use counters and blocks and even snack time can turn into a math lesson! ![]()
Above all, we strive for a home like, family atmosphere where learning is fun and kids can still be kids. The whole package is geared to helping the children in our care be prepared for Kindergarten and yet allow them to explore their surroundings and learn the way children learn best - through PLAY! It is our goal and our hope that these children will be able to function in a kindergarten classroom with ease and confidence. Starting school is a huge milestone and can be filled with apprehension and uncertainty. If they are familiar with the activities and expectations of a kindergarten classroom, it makes their transition that much easier and gives them a little bit of an edge! |
